Super Easy Doughnuts
Super Easy Doughnuts Recipe
Ingredients
- ¼ C warm water
- 2 packets (or 2 T) yeast
- 1/3 C shortening
- ½ C sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 t salt
- 1 ½ C warm milk
- 5 C flour
- oil for frying

Instructions
- Place the warm water in a large measuring cup. Sprinkle with yeast and allow to foam.
- In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar until fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well
- Add the salt, milk and yeast mixture, mixing until completely incorporated.
- Slowly add the flour, a little at a time, until it is completely mixed in.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until it’s smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
- Place in a bowl and cover. Let set until double. Dough is ready when it is pressed and indentations remain.
- Turn the dough back out onto a floured surface. Roll to about ½ inch thick. Cut doughnuts and place on a floured baking sheet. Cover and let sit 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a heavy bottomed stock pot or deep frying pan to 350 degrees F.
- Slide doughnuts into the hot oil, leaving room for them to move around the pan. Fry until golden brown, turning once during cooking.
- Remove to paper toweling to cool enough to be able to handle them.
- Decorate as desired.
- Serve warm or room temperature.
